When Decisions Feel Muddled

Okay. So. Uh...

Yeah, that's how I'm feeling today. Why, you ask? Because I'm ping-ponging between three different half-finished projects.

I'm in need of a focus.

So, I'm curious. What do you do to choose your next project? How do you know it's right? Is it a feeling? Or do you just dig your heels in and work on whatever you've vowed to work on, see it to completion?

I think I've picked a project I'm willing to stick with, but it's hard when there are so many ideas floating around in my head. A little insight would help me so much.

  1. I know, I know! I just sort of write them all down in my notebook and flesh themout in outlines until I can get to them. It's a weird feeling, isn't it? Having a story and wanting to write it, but can't.

I do the notebook thing too! Sometimes I've lost whole days of work, but it's better than letting those little gems flutter away, right? Eventually there will be enough time to write everything we want to...

    Looking forward to that day.

  1. I had that same problem before too. I'd get an idea and jot it down. The idea would turn into a chapter. Then two or three, and then I'd completely stop working on the other project I'd started.

I just learned to focus on the MS I'd either started or was most excited about, and forced myself to finish it before I worked on anything else.

I lot of writers have to acquire some sort of self-discipline. So, just know that you're not alone. :-)
